On 7 November 2013 the Australian Government introduced interim recruitment arrangements intended to reduce the size of the Australian Public Service. As a result it is expected that temporary employment opportunities at the National Library will be fewer in number. The Temporary Employment register will continue to be consulted where a temporary vacancy is eligible to consider the wider Australian Citizenry. Job seekers are therefore still encouraged to complete an application. Further information on the interim recruitment arrangements can be found on the Australian Public Service Commission website at http://www.apsc.gov.au/home/latest-news/interim-arrangements.
The National Library offers good opportunities for people looking for short-term or project based employment. We are seeking applications from people who would like to be placed on the Temporary Employment Register. Opportunities may be available in the following areas/categories:
- Book retrieval;
- Collection maintenance;
- Support including pay and conditions;
- Preservation services;
- Graphic design;
- Public affairs;
- Corporate communications;
- Information technology;
- Document retrieval; and
- Records management.
Applications expire after one year. Previous applicants will need to reapply if they wish to remain on the register.
If selected for employment you may be engaged as a non-ongoing employee for a specified period or for the duration of a specified task or for duties which are irregular or intermittent (casual).
To notify us of changes to your application (such as contact details) or any other enquiries, please contact Recruitment on 6262 1226 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
