'Libraries Australia Search Basics' is a full-day course designed to introduce new users to the LAS system. The course is designed with plenty of hands-on practice and will cover:
searching (using basic and advanced search screens, viewing records, sorting results, saving and emailing records, etc) adding and editing holdings (including downloading and the Record Import Service), personalisation features, setting up alert services, the use of the 'want this' interlibrary loan function (Enhanced Access for end users and library staff).

'Libraries Australia Document Delivery Refresher' is a half-day course which will provide a review of the current interlibrary loan system. Participants will be provided with a Libraries Australia workbook, manual and morning tea.

This two day hands-on, practical course will cover :

  • searching for records using both commands and a search screen 
  • viewing records and navigating through sets
  • browsing indexes
  • creating bibliographic records editing and copying existing bibliographic records
  • creating templates using templates to create a new record 
  • adding and editing holdings statements
  • creating and using authority records, and
  • customising the Client.

Familiarity with cataloguing processes and the MARC format are pre-requisites.  A minimum of four participants is required for this course to run. More courses may be scheduled according to demand

This half-day, hands-on course will cover different modes of searching the ANBD and other external databases.  The course covers:

  • searching using the differnt search screens search rules viewing records,
  • navigating and sorting results sets printing,
  • emailing and saving records
  • browsing indexes
  • selecting databases and searching external databases
  • creating and editing holdings statements
  • saving search strategies and setting up alerts
  • saving search strategies
  • an introduction to the Administration System  

A minimum of four participants is required for this course to run. More courses may be scheduled according to demand.

Libraries Australia Document Delivery is Australia's premier ILL and Document Delivery management system and it enables complete automation of the whole interlibrary loan and document delivery process including billing, managment of overdues, tracking of requests and searching for material.

The Libraries Australia Client course will cover an introduction to ISBD format, AACR2 (2003 update) and USMARC format as well as Libraries Australia cataloguing. Both print and non print resources will be examined and catalogued. The course does not inculde hands on authority work but the theory and rules of authority work will be discussed if time permits.
At this stage, one two-day course will be offered by an accredited Libraries Australia Trainer.
