Amendment to Minutes of 7th Meeting, 1998 (PNG) The following amendments to the minutes were noted:

Adoption of Minutes of 7th Meeting With no further amendments, the last meeting minutes was adopted. This was proposed by Papua New Guinea and seconded by Australia. |

CDNLAO Website Congratulatory thanks were attributed to Australia for the
effort put into the website to ensure up-to-date news for CDNLAO. Members were
urged to continue supporting the website by contribution. (please refer to
9i). All proceedings and papers collected during the 8th CDNLAO
conference will be placed on the web. Singapore will compile and handover to
Australia for web posting. |

CDNLAO Newsletter Congratulations and gratitude were given for excellent work done for the CDNLAO newspaper by the National Diet Library. A resolution was made on the continuation of the newsletter. (please refer to 9ii) |

Inter-library Cooperation It was agreed that library specific Memorandum of Understanding signed by each member country may be accessed with permissioin by other member libraries to be studied. |

Country Reports Members were urged to read the country reports distributed and update themselves on library developments in the region. Three resolutions were made on standardizing future submissions of country reports. (please refer to 9iii - 9iv) |

CDNLAO Secretariat Members debated on proposed issue, with a resolution made at the end of the discussion. (please refer to 9v.) |

Next CDNLAO Meeting It was suggested that future CDNLAO meetings could coincide with
other organised conferences. Members were urged to find out from their
respective governments if they could host the next CDNLAO meeting. Interested
hosts are to contact Singapore. |

9. |
CDNLAO 8 Resolutions i. Members should continue to support the CDNLAO website by the provision of materials for website publication. |
|
ii. National Diet Library would continue publication and digitization of the CDNLAO newsletter until 2001. |
|
|
iii. Future submission of country reports would cover only updates on the general library scene in the country and not just the National Libraries. Country profiles would also be included as part of the packaging, including contact listings. |
|
|
iv. A standard template will be issued to each member country to reformat their country submissions. This will also include guidelines on format structure to be used. These reports, submissions and proceedings will be edited and published for distribution. |
|
|
v. Singapore will continue Secretariat duties until the next meeting is convened. It is agreed that the host country of subsequent CDNLAO conferences and meetings will hold onto the Secretariat portfolio until it is handed over to the next host. The secretariat will hold responsiblities to ensure that resolutions made will be carried out. |
|
|
vi. CDNLAO will continue in its present structure. Countries which do not have a formal National Library but have libraries performing National library functions may be recommended for inclusions in future CDNLAO meetings. |
