Project description: Digitisation of past Victoria University of Technology Higher Education exam papers. The completion of the successful pilot project to digitise 5 years of exam papers has now embedded this process.  The Library is now adding electronic reserve to its digitisation of resources.

URL for project information:
Content: Typed texts.
Digitisation policy and priorities: No digitisation or online policy. 0.1% of the collection has already been digitised; further digitisation depends on popularity of EReserve.
Timetable: Digitisation of past exam papers ran from 1 July 1997 - 1 September 1998. EReserve should be embedded by August 2000.
Budget and funding: Internally funded, using existing resources.
Staff resources: Digitisation done inhouse.
Technical standards: Scanning 300 dpi to TIF files using Innopac's E-Reserve software on a Pentium computer with Canon scanner. Storage devices: Central server - Sun ultraserver.
EReserve - pdf format being used with files either being converted or images scanned to pdf.  300 dpi will be maximum resolution.
Cataloguing and indexing: The pilot project using E-Reserve module of our Innopac system (our library management system) means the image is fully indexed by one catalogue entry. Catalogue allows access by title and course code - logical access points for exam papers. EReserve items will also have a reserve record entry allowing course code and lecturer access.
Comments: Problems with printing - hopefully the pdf format will assist with this.

Project managers wishing to update the details of their Australian digitisation projects, should send the changes to ALG Administration.
