Content: The Brennan & Geraghty Archives comprise of over 50,000 individual, handwritten documents relating to the Brennan & Geraghty busines dating from 1871-1972. The first phaze of digitisation, saw over 4,000 documents digitised.
Digitisation policy and priorities: No digitisation or online policy. Approximately 5% of the collection has already been digitised - 5% is planned to be digitised by the end of 1998 and 10% by the end of 1999.
Timetable: Completed: December 1997 - December 1998
Budget and funding: Total budget: less than $A20,000. Internal and Commonwealth government funding - phase 1 received $5,000 from the 1997 Community Heritage Grants program.
Staff resources: Digitisation process done inhouse.
Technical standards: Scanning at 150dpi, stored as TIF, using Micrographic Picture Publisher.
Cataloguing and indexing: The Brennan & Geraghty Archives are being indexed onto our computer database using Inmagic DBTextworks. The database holds much of the information that the original documents holds. The digitised image is linked to the index for quick retrieval.
Comments: This project has proved so successful that we are continuing the digitisation work to ensure that more information is accessible.

Project managers wishing to update the details of their Australian digitisation projects, should send the changes to ALG Administration.
