| Project
description: To digitise past and future Deakin University higher degree by
research theses and make them available over the WWW. Project to be in line
with the Australian Digital Theses Project. Result will be a WWW site hosted by
Deakin University Library. Aims include provision of wider access to the titles
and the preservation of titles. |

| Content: |
The collection will include only Deakin University HDR
theses at the Masters level and above. Coursework and minor theses are not
eligible for inclusion. |
| Digitisation policy and
priorities: |
Deakin University does not have a digitisation policy
at present. |
| Timetable: |
The current project will run from 31/08/1999 to
30/03/2000. It is envisioned that it will then be ongoing. |
| Budget and funding: |
No allocated budget. Will be funded within existing
staff and budget allocations of Deakin University Library. Grants or project
funding may be bid for in the future. |

In-house by Deakin University Library Staff. |
| Technical standards: |
Material digitised includes photographs, handwritten
material, typewritten text, transparencies, charts, maps. Proposed to use
PDF files created from other electronic formats and and by scanning. SGML and
HTML will be used if appropriate. Metadata will comply with Dublin core. |
| Cataloguing and
indexing: |
Items will be catalogued (Dewey) and listed in the
Deakin University Library Catalogue. Data will be added to the Australian
Digital theses Project database. Dublin Core metadata standards will be
applied. |
