Documenting a democracy website project

Project participants: National Archives of Australia, State Records New South Wales, Northern Territory Archives Service, Queensland State Archives, State Records South Australia, Archives Office Tasmania, Public Record Office Victoria and State Records Office Western Australia together with the National Library of Australia, State and Territory libraries.

Project description: New website - a Centenary of Federation project.

Content: The website features images and transcripts of 99 documents identified as Australia's key constitutional documents. The original documents digitised for the website are located in the eight government archives, in other Australian cultural institutions, in government departments, in the Public Record Office (UK), and in the House of Lords Record Office. Includes photographs, 3D objects, handwritten materails, typewritten texts and paintings.

Timetable: Completed project (25 January 1999 - 19 June 2000).
Budget and funding: $240,000.
Staff resources: Work undertaken in-house and through external service providers.
