The Director General of the National Library of Australia, Jan Fullerton, and the President of OCLC (the Online Computer Library Center), Jay Jordan, today signed a collaborative services agreement opening up access to two significant catalogues.
From 1 July 2007, all Australian libraries who subscribe to Libraries Australia will have unlimited cataloguing and search access to WorldCat, which makes available records from 110 countries via http://worldcat.org.
The agreement ensures that bibliographic records between the two services will be exchanged on a regular basis, and as a consequence, holdings in Australian library collections will be available internationally through OCLC's Open WorldCat service.
