Installation Guide

Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client is simple to install. After running the installation file you will be presented with an installation wizard.  Follow the on-screen prompts to install LACC to the default location of %systemdrive%:\Program Files\LACC\ this will also install a shortcut to the Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client folder through the users Start Menu.

When installing a new version of the cataloguing client the previous version of the Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client must be uninstalled prior to upgrading to a newer version. To remove the application use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and remove the program named WINIBW. Note:The name Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client and WINIBW refers to the same program.  The Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client is referenced as WINIBW through Add/Remove Programs.

It is also a good idea to delete the directory where it is installed - c:\Program Files\LACC just to make sure no old personal files may be causing any problems.

N.B. In order to run the Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client correctly, users need permission to modify the directory %systemdrive%:\Program Files\LACC\Profile. If the permissions are left at Read-Only the Client will be unable to create profiles for the current user leading to functional problems.

Connecting to the Server

In order for the Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client to connect to the Libraries Australia Catalogue certain TCP ports must be enabled on firewalls.  These TCP ports are listed below:

Production System

Training System

Host Name

catclient.libariesaustralia.nla.gov.au

cattrain.librariesaustralia.nla.gov.au

TCP Ports

1521 , 80
or 11521, 80

1840 , 80

IP Address

192.102.239.210

192.102.239.207

Port 11521 was opened for those routers that deny any non-Oracle traffic on 1521.

To access Libraries Australia Production Database using the Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client on port 11521:

  1. Make sure you have opened this port through your firewall.
  2. Start up the Cataloguing Client and hover over the 'Libraries Australia Production' link. Look in the bottom left hand corner of the program. If it says pica3://catclient.librariesaustralia.nla.gov.au:1521/ it is still using 1521.
  3. Go to the installation directory and then Chrome > ibw > content (usually C:\Program Files\LACC\chrome\ibw\content) and copy start.htm
  4. Rename the new copy of the file to startold.htm. Open start.htm using a text editor (eg. notepad) and change the Libraries Australia Production link from:
    pica3://catclient.librariesaustralia.nla.gov.au:1521
    to
    pica3://catclient.librariesaustralia.nla.gov.au:11521

Try connecting again. If this fix works for you, please install the new start.htm file on every computer using the cataloguing client within your organisation.
