The role of the Libraries Australia Advisory Committee (LAAC) is to provide advice on strategic issues which influence:
- delivery of the Libraries Australia service
- the broad direction of service development
- changes occurring in the library community which are likely to affect services.
Users are encouraged to contact any of the LAAC members with their opinions of Libraries Australia. LAAC members also try to keep in touch by attending State/Territory User Group meetings. The LAAC is a mix of elected members and appointed representatives of peak bodies and library sectors who include:
- three people elected from and by the library membership of Libraries Australia
- two CAUL (Council of Australian University Librarians) representatives
- one NSLA (National and State Libraries Australasia) representative
- three Director-General nominees, one of each working in and representing: special libraries, public libraries and government libraries
- two National Library staff (nominated by the Director-General).
See the paper:
LAAC membership guidelines (pdf, 86 KB) for more information.
