ILL service delivery implications when end users have access to Kinetica, Friday 22nd, 9-10.15am
KDD Advanced User & Best Practice Workshop, Friday 22nd, 1-4pm

Christine Cother is currently Campus Librarian, Underdale Campus and Senior Librarian Flexible Delivery Services at the University of South Australia.
In her role as Senior Librarian Flexible Delivery Services, she has day-to-day management responsibility for her Library's Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery (ILL/DD) and the Distance Education Library Service Teams identified collectively as the Flexible Delivery Service - Your Library@ your place.
Christine has been a member of the National Resource Sharing Working Group (NRSWG) since it was established in April 1999. She is also a member of the South Australian Kinetica Users Group and has been a regular, and active participant at Kinetica Annual User Meetings
She was the first Convenor of what is now the South Australian Document Delivery Interest Group (SADDIG). She maintains her interest in the training and development of interlibrary loan and document delivery practitioners through her role as a Training Agent for both Kinetica Document Delivery (KDD) and Kinetica Web. Christine has also delivered the Interlending/Document Delivery Best Practice Workshop in South Australia.
Delivery to the door or desktop is normal practice for the Teams she manages. Over the past few years Christine has been considering how these delivery options can be extended to ILL/DD clients Australia wide.

ILL service delivery implications when end users have access to Kinetica

Unmediated Interlending and Document Delivery - issues, concerns and possible solutions. In this presentation Christine Cother will outline some of the issues and concerns that have been identified at meetings, seminars and conversations she has been involved with in recent years when the topic of 'unmediated interlending and document delivery' has been discussed. She will also talk about the University of South Australia and University of Adelaide trial of unmediated loans via the Voyager Universal Borrowing (UB) utility. This trial (to continue throughout 2003) has enabled university staff and post-graduate students to request loans items via the Library Catalogue of each institution and have them delivered to the campus library of their choice. Christine will challenge the Library community to think outside the square and look seriously at the possibilities and opportunities for providing 'at your door or desk delivery' of loans and documents Australia wide.
