Libraries to be visited

The Powerhouse Museum Research Library is located next door to the Museum in the Harwood Building. The Research Library's primary focus is the provision of information services to Museum staff, while also assisting external researchers and New South Wales regional clients.

The Research Library collection dates from 1880 and is eclectic in nature, reflecting the breadth of the Powerhouse Museum's object collection. The Research Library's staff and resources support the development of the Museum's exhibitions, online microsites, programs and publications.

In April 2008, the Research Library launched its participation in JSTOR. This participation provides desktop access to the JSTOR scholarly archive for staff at the Powerhouse Museum, Sydney Observatory and Powerhouse Discovery Centre sites.

University of Technology, Sydney - UTS Library provides services and resources to support the University's educational and research programs. Two campus libraries give access to an extensive range of electronic resources (including full-text e-journals, e-books, catalogues, databases, UTS exam papers and course material) and a collection of over 740,000 books, journals and audiovisual items.
Online resources are available via the Library website www.lib.uts.edu.au and include LIVE chat, tutorials, virtual tours, subject guides and interlibrary loan requests. Library staff provide face-to-face assistance at service points in the Library and deliver information skills training programs throughout the semester.
Facilities include the Scholars' Centre, Olympic and Event Studies Room and Baya Ng'ara Nura Learning Place, individual and group study areas, presentation rooms, special needs rooms with adaptive equipment and software, wireless connection zones for laptops, printing and photocopying.

ABC Archives and Libraries - Content Services manages the ABC's archives, libraries, rights and records management services. Content Services staff are actively involved in the daily delivery of music, vision, sound and information to ABC productions.
The Sound & Reference Library has a substantial collection of music and sound effects recordings to support radio programming and general content production for radio, television, and online. The library also provides a range of reference services to journalists, researchers and producers around Australia and overseas.
The ABC Archives, the most significant and comprehensive audiovisual media collection held in Australia, includes radio and television material dating back to the early 1930's for radio and 1956 for Television. The purpose built facilities at Ultimo accommodate environmentally controlled storage vaults for film and tape and technical facilities for the copying, preservation and digitisation of ABC content.
