Changes in LADD to incorporate the implementation of RDA

There have been some minor changes in LADD to incorporate the implementation of RDA at the end of March. The issues that LADD wanted to address were:

• Will z3950 searching from LADD be affected by RDA?
• With the GMD (240$h) being made redundant, (being replaced by the Content, Media and Carrier types), will there be enough information in requests for RDA bibliographic records for libraries to determine the physical medium of requested material.

Searching – The only current search parameter of concern was to the publication details area. No changes were necessary as Libraries Australia will be indexing data from the new 264 field (Production, Publication, Distribution, Manufacture, and Copyright Notice) with the data in the 260 (Publication, Distribution, etc. (Imprint).

Bibliographic Search results - Data from the 336 (Content Type), 337 (Media Type) and 338 (Carrier Type) will now be visible in bibliographic search results in LADD.

Item Description - Data from the Physical Medium Fields, ie 336, 337 and 338 fields, will be mapped to the end of the Item description field in the requests form, and request screens for both requester and responder.

Item Description - The item description field will now be visible in both monograph and copy requests.

If you have any questions I am happy for you to contact me via any of the methods in the below signature.
