04/09/07 Default Expiry Setting for Requests set to 5 Days

The default expiry setting for requests will now be set at ‘Calc from expiry days’ with the number of days defaulting to ‘5’ to match the ILRS code regarding turnaround time – previously the default was ‘10’. During the recent survey period to determine the default expiry setting, the system issue which had limited the system to limiting the 'Expiry days' values to an even number of days was rectified. If the default expiry settings are not changed before submitting a new request, then this means that your request, if unactioned by the responder, will remain at that location for 5 working days before it expires and moves onto the next location on the rota. Weekends and public holidays are not counted as working days for the purposes of calculating the expiry. Further information about managing requests can be found at http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/documents/supply_LADocDel.pdf Information about using Email Alerts to manage requests can be found at  http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/docdel/managing.html

16/08/07 Changes to the Request-indication Email Alert

Libraries Australia Document Delivery Administration wish to advise that the Service Level (i.e.Core, Rush or Express) for requests sent to your location will now be stated in the subject line of the Request-indication Email Alert (e.g. New Rush Request from NLA:AKIN). We hope that those libraries who have been set up to receive this Email Alert will find the change an improvement in streamlining their ILL/DD supply workflows. This change was initiated by a suggestion from a LADD subscriber in their feedback on Email Alert functionality. If you would like more information, or request to be setup to receive any of the email alerts, please go to http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/docdel/managing.html. We welcome any feedback you may have at http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/suggestform.html.

23/07/07 ILL Email Alerts now offered on an ongoing basis

After a successful ILL Email Alert Trial earlier this year, Libraries Australia is pleased to offer ILL Email Alerts functionality to all Libraries Australia Document Delivery Web Interface users.
ILL Email Alerts involve the sending of an automated email to a nominated contact email address when a particular action is sent for a new or existing request. This will improve workflows, e.g, for libraries who have a small volume of requests by reducing the need to login and check for new requests, or for larger libraries who may choose to only utilise particular alerts such as the Cancel-Indication and/or Renew-Indication. Please note that the 'Renew-Indication' and 'Request (Idle, For Manual Authorisation)' alerts are new alerts and were not originally offered in the trial. If you believe that your library may benefit from this functionality and would like to register, or if your location is already utilising the email alerts functionality and would like to register for the newly offered alerts, please complete the form at http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/docdel/emailalerts.html.

30/05/07 Infotrieve Australia Database now a Searchable Target in Libraries Australia Document Delivery

LADD subscribers who would like to register and access the Infotrieve Australia database can do so by contacting  Libraries Australia Customer service at http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/contactus.html.

Libraries Australia Document Delivery has been successfully upgraded to 2.7.4. While the core functionality has remained unchanged, several new features have been added.

New Features

Complete documentation on the new version of the service can be found on the Release Notes and in the new version of the Manual. Brief summaries of the new features can be found in the "At A Glance" documents available here - http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/manuals.html

23/08/06 Libraries Australia Document Delivery upgrade

Next week the Libraries Australia Document Delivery system will be upgraded from version 2.3.3 to 2.7.4. This upgrade includes some new features, some new reports and a new look. The base functionality of the system remains unchanged, so you won't need re-training. New functionality has been fully documented in the 'At a glance documentation' and in the updated manual (which now includes the exercises from the workbook).

While the system is being upgraded, it will be unavailable, and we suggest you use this time to log into the Training database and check out the new features that will be avilable next week..

Remember that email addresses need to moved to the notes field by the end of this week in preparation. As advised earlier, the E-Mail field within the Delivery Address in Libraries Australia Document Delivery is a system field. This field will revert to system purposes when Document Delivery is upgraded. Existing E-Mail field content for every library's address details, or user's address details (for those libraries that have separate addresses for their users) will need to be removed. Please transfer any contact details you have stored in that field to the notes field instead.

Following the launch of the revised Australian Interlibrary Resource Sharing (ILRS) Code at the National Resource Sharing Consultation Forum on 18 May, in line with the timetable for adoption by Australian libraries, Libraries Australia Document Delivery will introduce the changes on 1 July 2006. The new ILRS Code is available online in HTML and PDF versions at http://alia.org.au/interlibrary.lending/

From 1 July Libraries Australia Document Delivery libraries using the Libraries Australia Document Delivery web interface will only have the option to select a service level of Express, Rush or Core. Libraries that create requests on their own ISO ILL compliant system and send them via the Libraries Australia Document Delivery gateway will be asked to request using only Express, Rush and Core service levels.
