What is Libraries Australia?
Libraries Australia is the redeveloped Kinetica service. Search the Australian National Bibliographic Database and/or other databases using either a Simple or Advanced Search option. Command search is also available.
The service not only searches for an item, identifies its bibliographic details, and locates a library in Australia that holds it, but it enables you to "get" the item, either through interlibrary loans, photocopies (such as the CopiesDirect service) or links to online documents (e.g. reports). You can also link to a range of online bookshops.
Libraries Australia is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at:
http://librariesaustralia.nla.gov.au/
Who Uses it?
Libraries that are members of Libraries Australia, and members of the public who register as individual clients can use Libraries Australia. Many libraries also allow their end users to search Libraries Australia through their accounts. Members include national, state, academic, special and public libraries from all states and territories.
Payment
Libraries and individual clients pay a one-off charge to join Libraries Australia. Details of the costs, which are recommended by the Libraries Australia Advisory Committee, can be found on the Libraries Australia website: http://www.nla.gov.au/librariesaustralia/charges.html
