Relate program & linking of bibliographic-authority records

Automated linking of headings in bibliographic records with their matching authority records has resumed in the Australian National Bibliographic Database. Libraries Australia staff have worked closely with OCLC staff to implement the Relate program, which performs offline linking of bibliographic records to authority records in the Libraries Australia update database.

When the Relate program finds a heading in a bib record without a link to an authority record, it searches for a matching authority record. If a match is found, the number of the authority record is inserted into the bib heading. Inserting links in bibliographic record headings means that if you display an authority record in the LA Cataloguing Client and then click on the Related Records button in the toolbar, you can retrieve all the bibliographic records linked to that authority.
