If the course you are interested in is not scheduled, please contact the trainer in your state/territory to express your interest, as trainers often have a waiting list and may only be waiting for enough participants to schedule a course.

Libraries Australia Search Basics

This full day, hands-on course covers:

  • searching the Australian National Bibliographic Database (ANBD) using basic and advanced search screens
  • search rules and viewing records
  • sorting results, saving and emailing records
  • selecting databases and searching external databases
  • adding and editing holdings (including downloading and the Record Import Service)
  • personalisation features
  • setting up alert services
  • Enhanced Requesting (interlibrary loan function for end users and library staff).

Libraries Australia Search Refresher

This half day, hands-on course focuses on features such as:

  • personalisation
  • holdings
  • alerts and enhanced access

It will help experienced staff use the service more effectively and assist you to answer queries from clients about their new public online access.

Libraries Australia Document Delivery Basics

This full day, hands-on course covers:

  • how to search and view one’s own organisation details, and those of other organisations
  • configure reciprocal arrangements between libraries
  • searching for and displaying bibliographic records
  • creating requests after a bibliographic search
  • creating requests from a blank form
  • sending, receiving and processing requests
  • use the DocStore function as requester and responder
  • using the messages and notes fields
  • tracking and monitoring the status of requests
  • creating and printing of activity reports

On completion of this course participants will be able to effectively operate the Libraries Australia Document Delivery system for all their interlibrary loan processes.

Libraries Australia Document Delivery Refresher

This half day, hands-on course covers:

  • review of the current system
  • before you start
  • searching
  • requesting
  • supplying
  • tips and tricks

This course is for experienced staff who want to use the service more effectively, those who have used the LADD system for more than 12 months but have not had formal training and for library managers or document delivery supervisors wishing to obtain an overview of the system.

Offered by the following Libraries Australia Trainers:

Libraries Australia Document Delivery - Requester (Trial)

This half day, hands-on course covers LADD requesting processes:

  • Bib Searching
  • Requesting
  • Request Searching

Suitable for those libraries already registered with LADD and primarily request from the LADD service (instead of supply). Each participant will be provided with access to the training system and will complete a range of exercises.

Offered by the following Libraries Australia Trainers:

Libraries Australia Document Delivery Advanced (Trial)

This half day, hands-on course covers advanced LADD concepts not covered in the basics LADD course:

  • Bib searching & Z39.50
  • Enhanced Requesting (collecting patron requests via web form)
  • Updates to copyright legislation & compliance
  • Email alerts
  • Doc Store (sending and receiving electronic documents via the LADD interface)
  • Own Services (automating shipped cost for reciprocal agreements
  • ISO ILL Overview & considerations for an in-house ILL system

Suitable for those who have completed the basics course, or Document Delivery Managers/Supervisors.  Each participant will be provided with access to the training system and will complete a range of exercises.

Libraries Australia Cataloguing Client

This 2 day, hands-on course covers:

  • searching for records using both commands and a search screen
  • viewing records and navigating through sets
  • browsing indexes
  • creating bibliographic records editing and copying existing bibliographic records
  • creating templates using templates to create a new record
  • adding and editing holdings statements
  • creating and using authority records, and
  • customising the Client.

Familiarity with cataloguing processes and the MARC format are pre-requisites.
