DDC Editorial Policy Meeting Exhibits for Comment
Exhibits outlining proposed changes to the Dewey Decimal Classification for inclusion in the next edition will be mounted here as received. The Committee members and Editorial staff seek input and guidance from the wider Dewey user community and welcome comments, suggestions and ways of improving proposals and changes. All responses will be presented to the Committee and the Editors for their information and considered responses.
June 2011 Meeting Exhibits
Final comments are due by 4th June.
Meeting 134 of the Editorial Policy Committee for the Dewey Decimal Classification will take place at OCLC headquarters in Dublin, Ohio, June 8-10, 2011.
While this meeting will finalise some parts of Edition 23 which were delayed because of world events beyond our control, the committee will be discussing and developing ideas for edition 24, and your input is welcome.
I have a number of specifically Australian oriented topics I will be suggesting for consideration and revising myself, but if you do have concerns about inadequacies you perceive within the classification please let me know, preferably by 4th June. Please note that we expect that the classification of computer related topics is an area we expect to revise fairly frequently as it is one of the more rapidly changing knowledge areas we endeavour to keep up with.
Comments on all the published Exhibits are welcome. As always, we ask that you limit your comments to a single exhibit per message, and use the exhibit number as the subject line, e.g., EPC 134-23.3. This will make it easier to keep track of each discussion thread. Please also include your complete contact information in your signature line. Please send them to me at the email address below
On May 2, the Dewey Section at the Library of Congress began to assign Dewey numbers from DDC 23. DDC 23 was installed in WebDewey 2.0 on May 8.
