The 2006 Seminar recovered all costs and made a small profit.
Action: Ebe and Rob to discuss funding and administrative arrangements for 2007 Seminar with Libraries Australia and ALIA. Topic and keynote speaker will be discussed via email in January. A teleconference will be held on 16 February at 10.00 am (Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time), to further plan the Seminar.
Face-to-Face ACOC Meeting
ACOC agreed to postpone the Face-to-Face meeting until after the release of the revised draft of Chapter 3 on 21 March 2007. It was also agreed that only one day was needed.
Action: Deirdre to suggest possible dates for the Face-to-Face meeting.
JSC Business
Deirdre advised that because it was not possible to cover all constituency comments at meetings, some are being discussed via a Wiki that is hosted by the NLA. Ebe expressed interest in being involved in this.
ACOC discussed the ALA comments on the RDA development process and agreed that each draft should be preceded by a clear statement explaining what the draft is meant to achieve in relation to the overall objectives of RDA.
In relation to drawing on other models for the development of RDA, Ebe noted that the JSC should also look at CIDOC-CRM.
Deirdre advised that the Editor is currently working on a new draft outline of Chapter 7 which presents two alternative structures. While this does not require constituency review, Deirdre agreed to forward this to ACOC members for their comments.
Deirdre advised that the redraft of Chapter 3 will be made available for constituency review on 21 March 2007. ACOC members noted that the replacement terminology for GMDs and SMDs is an important aspect of Chapter 3.
ACOC discussed whether greater clarity on the nature of relationships was needed in Chapters 6-7. Deirdre felt that the new draft would address this. Ann also noted that there are developments with regard to identifiers for people etc., that might affect our current notions of authority control, and that RDA should address these.
Actions:
Deirdre to provide access to the Wiki for Ebe.
Deirdre to circulate the options for Chapter 7, and ACOC members to make any comments by 15 January.Next teleconference
