Working Groups

Members of ACOC participate in a number of national and international working groups involved with bibliographic standards. These have included:

RDA Examples Groups

The RDA Examples Groups were formed in February 2005 with representatives from all of JSC's four national constituents. The RDA Examples Groups were tasked to review all examples in AACR2, make assessments as to their appropriateness for inclusion in RDA, update examples where necessary, and provide any additional examples to illustrate the RDA guidelines.

The ACOC member of the Groups was:

  • Catherine Argus

GMD/SMD Working Group

A working group formed in 2005 to propose terms for use in place of the current GMDs and SMDs for RDA.

The ACOC member of the Group was:

RDA Outreach Group

The ACOC member of the Group was:

  • Ebe Kartus

Format Variation Working Group

Enhancing catalogue access to works in multiple formats is the work of the Format Variation Working Group. The Format Variation Working Group was appointed in 2001 by the Joint Steering Committee for the Revision of AACR (JSC). The Group was chaired by Jennifer Bowen (University of Rochester Libraries, New York) and its members came from the USA, Canada, the UK and Australia. The Australian member was Peter Haddad (then Director, Technical Services, National Library of Australia). The Group presented its first interim report in October 2001, and progress with this work was discussed at each subsequent JSC meeting. At the April 2004 meeting, the JSC thanked the FVWG for their work and discharged the Group. The JSC charged the Editor with continuing the work of the FVWG on GMDs and chapter 25.
