The Australian Housewives' Manual

Need to know how best to look after your husband, find the cheapest (yet most delicious) cut of meat, and learn the best day to do your ironing? The National Library of Australia is here to help.

The Australian Housewives’ Manual is a facsimile version of the 1883 bible for the modern young woman, full of helpful hints on how to look after your husband which include: ‘ the secret of success is self-denial’ plus a tasty recipe for Haricot Mutton - with bread and butter pudding for afters.

Illustrated with images from the National Library’s collection, this manual begins where the author left off in her previous book, Men and How to Manage Them.
