Australia’s Wild Places
Australian wilderness photography is like no other – the works of such masters as Caire, Nettleton, Dombrovskis and Woldendorp are acclaimed throughout the world. In this new book, Roger McDonald gives an historical overview in a ‘portfolio’ section with images from the early 1800s to the present day. In his introductory essay, McDonald discusses the nature of photography, the environment and the meeting of the two. He has also written extended captions describing his response to the images. At the back of the book there are short biographies of the photographers. Many of these images are in the National Library of Australia Pictures Collection.
