The records were donated by the Society in a number of instalments between 1984 and 1986.

The records include minutes, 1962-90; constitution, rules and by laws; correspondence, 1964-91, including correspondence on such matters as plant variety rights, education, conservation, botanic gardens, publications and the National Seed Bank; conference papers, 1975-85; newsletters, 1970-91; reports, 1973-90; and records regarding study groups, 1976-91.

Administrative details

The Society for Growing Australian Plants, Canberra Region (SGAP) is incorporated under the A.C.T. Incorporations Ordinance and is a voluntary group. According to the constitution and rules of SGAP the objects are to "foster and further interest in the recognition, protection and growing of all native Australian flora..." and "to establish funds to support the Society's activities" (Constitution and Rules of the Society for Growing Australian Plants, Canberra Region, MS7950, Box 10, Folder 57). Members may subscribe toAustralian Plants produced by SGAP.
