"Queensland's First AIDS Information and Phone counselling
service launched in Brisbane". (Rough note - The committee
had a low public profile and needed media coverage to get
awareness both for itself and also for the information service.
Previously there had only been a little print media exposure.
This release was designed to launch the committee formally.
The impression that I got was that the committee didn't know
what had hit it.)

Request for evaluation of program. (Draft note: It was
becoming clear that QAC did not have the organisational
resources or framework to accommodate a offensive political
campaign. Office administration was extremely rudimentary;
decision making process at executive level were equally so.
The growth of activities within the organisation resulted
in a catchers-catch-can approach to resources and personnel.
There was the usual growth pains experienced by a new
executive working together and there was ill defined areas
of responsibility. The hysteria of surrounding AIDS also
took it toll on the operations of the organisation. Now
there was the added disadvantage of the New South Wales
government adopting similar policy. By this stage the one
of the four original objectives of QAC formulating policy
had been achieved with Tony Lee and Phillip Tahmindjis
writing their analysis. The other aim of raising community
awareness had also been achieved. Time to call it a day and
use the model developed for this campaign as a basis for
the National AIDS campaign of 1986. Refer to Volume Number
19 of this archive.)
