"... I wish to express my strong support for your recent courageous

        Report 1976.02.01
        From: Sub-Committee Student Union
To: Student Council Kelvin Grove CAE

Investigation held on the activity of Society to Outlaw Pornography
(STOP) and Committee Against Regressive Education (CARE) to influence
the direction and content of courses on Kelvin Grove College of Advance
        Education.

There had been involvement by number of groups, but mainly Society to
Outlaw Pornography (STOP) and Committee Against Regressive Education
(CARE). Police and Ministerial influence were used to promote overt
and covert censorship within the campus. The Committee comprising Val
Edwards, Michael Roper, John Fry and Greg Weir was assisted by a number
        of concerned staff.

It seems that both these sides of the debate were to play a significant
role in the development of Queensland education, and politics in that state.

This was the second eduation program and was organised by a number of students
on behalf of the student union. The first progam was held in the previous year.
(Refer documents No. 2). The courses were attended by a wide range and
significant number of graduating students. It was chiefly organised by Val Edwards
and myself. It covered a number of weeks. Each session was conducted by well
qualified resource people. These included lecturers from the college and a number
of professional people from outside the college. The aim was to give some
resources, contacts and information to graduating students who were unable to access
this information formally within the college.
