File Note 1977.04.29
From: Greg Weir
A number of members of the Kelvin Grove Lesbian and Homosexual Group did
graduate in 1976. Of these one failed the regular departmental inspection for
probationary first year teachers at the end of 1977. The teacher moved interstate
and achieved a senior position and ahigh level of respect in that states' government
department. Another was posted to a isolated non-metropolitan school, but resigned
to take up post graduate studies overseas. It was stated to me by another gay at the
college, that as a member of the college administrative staff, he was approached by
a member of the college administration to join the group so as to find out the identity
of members of the group. He would receive financial reimbursement for any
expenses incurred during this investigation.

From: Greg Weir
Homosexuals and Lesbians supported the "Right to March" civil liberties campaign
and this support was evident a demand for recognition of their civil rights included
in material produced by the Organising Committee. The campaign resulted from
restrictions placed on the right of people to hold political street marches in
Queensland. There were significant public demonstrations held in Brisbane and other
centres in Queensland. At one stage a third of the Queensland Police Force were
deployed from around Queensland to enforce Queensland Government policy at a rally
held in Brisbane. For details of this material and a comprehensive collection of
material contact Greg Weir.
