Web
Australia is rich with records of our multicultural heritage. Some
organisations from culturally diverse background have started recording their
culture and traditions on the Web. Listed here are several websites of
multicultural organisations, which may inspire you to document your own
culture. Please contact us if you

Archival collections and networks

Directory of Archives in Australia - provided by the
Australian Society of Archivists
- National
Archives of Australia (NAA) - the official repository for Commonwealth
Government records and the personal papers of people with close links to the
Commonwealth, such as federal politicians and senior public servants
- ScreenSound Australia, the National Screen and Sound
Archive - the national audiovisual archive, collecting, storing, preserving
and making available screen and sound material relevant to Australia's culture;
part of the Australian Film
Commission
- CAN (Collections Australia Network) -
gateway to more than 1,500 museums, galleries, archives and libraries throughout Australia.
- Register
of Australian Archives and Manuscripts - a web based guide to collections
of personal papers and non-governmental organisational records in Australia,
managed by the National Library of Australia in collaboration with a number of
other institutions
- Australia's Oral History Collections: A National Directory
- managed by the National Library of Australia, the directory provides
electronic access to oral history collections in Australia
- Australian Historic Records Register - a database
describing archival material of historical significance held in private
ownership in Australia; a result of the Australian Bicentennial Historic
Records Search, undertaken in 1987-1988 by the Australian Bicentennial
Authority
- The
Peoples Voice: Australian Community History Online - brings together
the stories of communities from across Australia, building a history of the
nation from photographs, mementos, songs and other documentary heritage
materials supplied by community groups.

- Online WA Multicultural Communities Gateway - a joint
initiative of the Office of Multicultural Interests and the Ethnic Communities
Council of Western Australia aiming to enable community organisations and
ethnic associations to participate in an extensive Internet based network
across Western Australia
- Migration Research Network Database - provided by Curtin
University of Technology, the database contains information about research,
records, artefacts and film footage relevant to migration, ethnicity and
settlement held in Western Australia [update : database not accessible March 2006]
