The Friends of the National Library will celebrate the life and work of editor, author and publisher Hilary McPhee in a special event on Sunday 14 October.
Each year, the Friends celebrate the life of a person who has contributed significantly to Australia's writing culture.
Hilary McPhee has played such a role, from nurturing the early work of such writers as Tim Winton and Helen Garner to her role as Chair of the Australia Council to writing and publishing widely in both traditional and electronic media.
Journalist and broadcaster Caroline Baum will lead McPhee in the discussion about her career.
