First National Consultative Meeting on the Management of Australian Physical-Format Digital Publications

The purpose of the meeting is to seek agreement on key principles and an understanding of responsibilities related to the provision of long-term access to digital publications in physical-formats. Ways of developing and strengthening partnerships that will lead to a national preservation strategy will be explored. Brenda McConchie, Executive Director, AIMA Training and Consultancy Services, will be facilitating the two-day meeting.
Day 1 - October 27th
Attended by publishers and representatives of State and National Libraries.
Objectives:
- to explore the methods used in producing, promoting and distributing digital publications in physical-formats
- to discuss opportunities for cooperation
- to discuss the legal and commercial issues involved

Day 2 - October 28th
Attended by representatives of State and National Libraries.
Objectives:
- to discuss methods of providing long-term access to digital publications in physical-format
- to discuss legal issues
- to explore methods of sharing the preservation responsibility nationally
- to develop an action plan setting out responsibilities, resource implications and a timetable for action
