JUNE 1995

A bid for funds in early 1995 resulted in an extra $60,000 being available for new projects. DNC Office continues to provide administrative support. The Working Group expects to cease its activities once its current funds are expended around mid-1996.

A full report on the projects which have been supported from funds contributed to the High Priority Projects Fund is available in this publication. RM2 That the National Library retain a focus for continuing the Towards Federation 2001 agenda, and monitoring progress, within its new Office of the Distributed National Collection, working in close collaboration with ACLIS and CASL

1994 - 1996

Staff for the DNC Office were appointed in May 1994. They are monitoring progress on all Towards Federation 2001 resolutions and all projects supported by the Working Group on High Priority Cross Sectoral Projects; and are maintaining close links with ACLIS and Council of State Librarians. Close links continue to be maintained with ACLIS, CASL and CAUL.

RM3 That the National Library of Australia organise a further meeting of parties interested in the Towards Federation 2001 agenda to be held in early 1996, to review progress, and if possible to agree on further collaborative projects and activities over the period 1996-2001

JUNE 1996

The National Library has now decided that no further meeting will be held. The Library considers that changes in the funding and technological environment mean that the towards Federation 2001 process in its present form has run its useful. life.

The Library will be issuing a final report on TF2001 activities and projects in September 1996. It will subsume ongoing activities in this area into other Library programs, and is reconsidering overall strategy as part of its current review of strategic directions for the period 1996-2001.
