RDA courses through ALIA Training

ALIA, in partnership with TAFESA, is presenting a 3 week online course aiming to provide an overview and understanding for practitioners of the changes RDA implementation will bring.

RDA Courses at Box Hill Institute, Victoria

Box Hill Institute is offering sessions to introduce library staff to this new cataloguing standard. Sessions have been scheduled at the two campus locations, Nelson Campus, Box Hill and CAE campus, Melbourne CBD.

TMQ, Inc. (The MARC of Quality)

TMQ offers RDA and other cataloging training either onsite or online. For a description of our approach to RDA training, (particularly over this current transition period) see our article in issue 76 of Catapult : Newsletter of the LIANZA Cataloguing Special Interest Group

Onsite sessions in the Asia-Pacific region can be arranged for groups of up to 25, between Aug-Nov, 2013. 

Online sessions are scheduled on an as-needed basis, at times most convenient to the requesting group, and are usually open to anyone wishing to register. See the 2013 calendar of scheduled sessions

RDA courses at Sydney Institute of TAFE, New South Wales

Sydney Institute of TAFE (located in Ultimo, near Central Station) is running RDA training in Sydney. 

Cataloguing with RDA

2 August 9.30 am-4.30 pm

This course is suitable for those engaged in copy cataloguing tasks in a library and will provide the participants with skills to navigate the RDA toolkit. It will highlight the changes in cataloguing practice that have resulted from RDA and how this is applied using MARC21. 

Cataloguing and Authority Control with RDA (2 day course)

18-10 July   9.30 am -4.30 pm

This course is suitable for practicing cataloguers and library technicians involved in cataloguing, who already have a good working knowledge of AACR2, and experience working in a cataloguing department, who require a hands-on experience of RDA which is applicable to their daily work in cataloguing. 

Comprehensive course notes will be provided at each training session.

College staff are also available to train in the workplace for libraries that would prefer RDA training more tailored to local requirements.

RDA Courses by PiCS Pty Ltd (Performance Improvement Conferences and Seminars)

2 day workshops run by Leonie Burke in which participants will learn to:

  • understand the principles of RDA
  • understand the conceptual models underpinning RDA
  • use the RDA toolkit
  • apply RDA guidelines to bibliographic description
  • create simple catalogue records for print and online materials
  • apply relevant MARC 21 bibliographic coding
