Loansome Doc finds a friendly home at NLA

Ordering articles in the medical field is now easier than ever. The National Library of Australia has recently become a Loansome Doc supplying library for Australia and the Pacific Region.

Loansome Doc is a method of ordering copies of articles for PubMed and Internet Grateful Med users. PubMed and Internet Grateful Med are the U.S. National Library of Medicine’s search services, available free over the Internet, which provide access to the nine million citations in MEDLINE, Pre-MEDLINE, and other related databases. The services have been streamlined to make document requesting easier for individuals, who can now order from a list of retrieved citations after searching the databases.

PubMed and Internet Grateful Med users from within Australia and the Pacific Region can arrange to have their document orders directed to the National Library of Australia’s Document Supply Service. Documents will be supplied from the National Library’s own collection where possible; or, if so instructed, the National Library will find copies of documents not held from another source.

More information about registering for the National Library’s Loansome Doc service is on the Internet at http://www.nla.gov.au/dss/loansome.html; or you can contact the National Library of Australia Document Supply Service, tel. (02) 6262 1421; (02) 6262 1269.
