| Director-General of the Polish National Archives Professor Daria Nalecz and Deputy Director-General Dr Andrzej Biernat visited the National Library in March. Professor Nalecz is responsible for the three national archival institutions in Warsaw as well as 29 regional archives throughout Poland. Professor Nalecz has a special interest in the records of the Polish diaspora. During her visit to the National Library she saw a selection of the Librarys Polonica collections including publications, oral history interviews, personal papers and organisational records relating to Polish Australians. The National Librarys Polonica collections are growing, thanks to an agreement with the Polish Historical Institute in Australia. Six Polish-speaking members of the National Librarys staff, under the leadership of Wanda Horky (pictured, fourth from left) President of the PHIA, voluntarily assist in the development of the Polonica collections. |
