Bringing Them Home Oral History Project

Objectives

The overall objectives of the project are to:

  • Create a research collection that provides a rounded history of the removal of Indigenous children from their families, by explaining what happened and why from a range of different perspectives and experiences.
  • Make the collection available to current and future generations of Australians for research use by transcribing the interviews, cataloguing them on to the National Bibliographic Database, and preserving them.

The project will aim to record about 300 interviews with both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people over the 4 year period 1998/99 – 2001/02.
