About JavaScript and cookiesTo use all the map searching features of the Directory, and to update an entry within it via the online forms, you will need a Web browser which is JavaScript enabled - ie, one which can handle JavaScript. JavaScript is an Object Oriented Programming
(OOP) language which helps with the construction of dynamic Web pages.
JavaScript sit within HyperText Mark-up Language (HTML) pages and are
read by JavaScript-enabled Web browsers which, in turn follow the
instructions issued. If your browser is not JavaScript-enabled, it
won't understand the instructions issued. To our knowledge, Internet Explorer (IE) and
Netscape browsers less than version 4.0 may have difficulty updating
via the update forms.
Cookies are small packets of information which are saved on the Web client side (ie within the Web browser setting on your computer). They are utilised through the online updating processes within the Directory and are only saved while you have a Web browser open. Your Web browser will have an option which you may need to check - to accept or not accept cookies.
* Tip - To check what version of the Web browser you
are working with, look under the 'Help' drop down menu for information
'About ...'. Talk to your IT support people if you have further
questions about your Web browser's capabilities. Last updated: 10 August
