PADI: Selection Criteria for Safekeeping
General criteria for the selection of material for PADI apply with
the following additional criteria:
1. Type of Resource
Only resources of type: article, project/case study, policy/strategy/guideline, glossary and
stand-alone websites will be considered for safekeeping; sites which merely provide a list of links
to other resources will not be safekept. Arrangements for safekeeping of resource types:
bibliography, discussion list, online tutorial and organisation would only be made if the content
were considered exceptional.
2. Content
Only resources whose content is deemed to be of 'high quality' and which very
closely relate to digital preservation will be safekept.
The following categories of materials will be considered for safekeeping:
- Seminal resources that record a 'turning point' in thinking about digital preservation.
- Resources of long-term interest as defining or describing an important issue, approach or project (but less than seminal).
- Resources of long-term interest as a study or summary, or paper canvassing important issues.
Those resources which are included in the PADI database but which provide only contextual information for the subject area
of digital preservation will not be safekept.
3. Format
Only resources which exist in electronic form on the Internet will be safekept.
