Safekeeping
Selection of Safekept Resources
Resources marked have been selected as being of long-term interest
or value. They include seminal papers which record a 'turning point' in thinking
about digital preservation; or resources which define or describe an important
issue, approach, project or study; or which summarise or raise important issues
in digital preservation (see Safekeeping Selection Guidelines).
resources are selected by an international group
of digital preservation professionals.
However, PADI users should be aware that safekept resources may be
less current than other resources listed on PADI and may therefore not describe
current practice in digital preservation.
Safekeeping Project
The Safekeeping project aims to establish a 'library' of significant digital
preservation resources which will be accessible in the long term.
In its initial year, this 'library' was established through the selection,
description and bringing together of resources for the PADI database,
together with understandings made between PADI and resource owners.
These understandings rely on resource owners, or organisations nominated by them,
undertaking to provide long-term access to their material. The National Library
of Australia is now seeking permission to archive all selected material within its
PANDORA archive.
