Centenary of Federation

The Library is celebrating both the Centenary of Federation and its own centenary. The Library of the Commonwealth Parliament was established in 1901 to serve the new government, and from the beginning was charged with developing a national collection. The Library has celebrated both centenaries by:

The publication of Remarkable Occurrences: The National Library of Australia's First 100 Years 1901–2001, the story of the development of the national collection and the eventual establishment of a separate national library.
