Kinetica Document Delivery Service is next
Now that KineticaWeb and Kinetica Cataloguing services are alive and out in the world, the Kinetica team is concentrating on implementing the Kinetica Document Delivery Service as soon as possible.
The Kinetica Document Delivery Service will allow libraries to:
The Kinetica Document Delivery Service uses the VDX (Virtual Document eXchange) software product, developed by a UK company, Fretwell-Downing Informatics. Users will access Kinetica Document Delivery via the Internet through a Web interface using Internet Explorer or Netscape. This Web interface was developed with regard to functionality already present in the server and PC based Windows client of VDX.
Delivery of the final functionality in the software took place in April, and acceptance testing, system configuration, user registration and training are now proceeding.
Users will be notified well in advance of the Kinetica Document Delivery Service being fully implemented; that will occur when testing is completed and existing ABN ILL users have been trained. The ABN ILL system will remain in use for a period after Kinetica Document Delivery goes live to allow existing requests on that system to complete their life cycle.
Thirty Kinetica training agents attended train-the-trainer courses on the Kinetica Document Delivery Service. These courses were conducted in mid-April in both Canberra and Adelaide.
