Kinetica news
Lurking on Kinetica-l
Implementing and then stream-lining a new system is seldom without its frustrations; therefore it was good to spot this happy message on Kinetica-l not long ago. It was from Kaye Lee, senior librarian at Concord Hospital.
Today I took receipt of a new monograph, added the holding to an existing Kinetica record, collected the MARC record through Marclink, downloaded and tailored it to our EOSi system. The book was barcoded, spine-labelled, date due slipped, and is now ready and waiting for a borrower.
In what took a very short time, with no problems, I had on the same day, received a new acquisition, added our holdings to the national bibliographic database, catalogued it to our local system and made it available for loan.
I am delighted at the speed and ease of this process and wish to thank all Kinetica staff for persevering in trying times to make this possible.
