Profiles: Australian Women Scientists In their own words, 16 Australian women scientists tell the stories of their lives, their work and the secrets of their success. Until now, their world-famous achievements have not been widely known in their own country. In this remarkable book all talk candidly about their careers, describing not just the obstacles that many encountered but also their aspirations and influences. Passion, curiosity and the quest for knowledge characterise the experiences of every one of these women. From microbiology to the revolutionary vanadium redox battery to the greenhouse effect, the work of these eminent scientists in some way touches the lives of all Australians.
This book is based on interviews from the National Library of Australias Eminent Women in Science Oral History Project. The transcripts were selected and edited by Dr Ragbir Bathal and the book is published by the National Library. ISBN 0 642 10701 7, pb, RRP $24.95 |
