The National Library of
Papua New Guinea
takes to the web

The National Library of Papua New Guinea is now on the World Wide Web thanks to the support of the National Library of Australia. Under the 1998–99 Regional Cooperation Program, the National Library of Australia provided funding assistance for the National Library of Papua New Guinea to have their its web site designed and hosted locally in Port Moresby. The Library can now advertise itself, its collections and services in cyberspace.

The National Library Service of Papua New Guinea has had Internet access for several years. The National Library of Australia and the Department of Education Training and Youth Affairs were instrumental in establishing the Internet connection, but it has taken a long time to get to the next plateau—to rise from simply seeing what’s out there, to being seen. You’re invited to check out the Library’s homepage at http://www.dg.com.pg/~ola/ and send comments and suggestions to webmaster@dg.com.pg
