The President of the L’Assemblée Nationale, M. Laurent Fabius, and members of a French delegation to Australia visited the National Library on 20 September for a tour of the exhibition Terre Napoléon: Australia Through French Eyes 1800–1804. The group was accompanied by the French Ambassador M Dominique Girard and his wife Mme Maud Girard-Geslan and was welcomed by the Director-General, Ms Jan Fullerton, Assistant Director-General Public Programs, Ms Helen Kon, Exhibitions Director, Nat Williams and Margaret Dent, manager of the Humanities Unit.

While in the building, members of the group took the opportunity to inspect the Library’s remarkable collection of French Revolution pamphlets under the care of special cataloguer Gerard Lequileuc. A visit to the National Library shop also yielded numerous publications and visual reminders of the delegation’s visit.
