New faces on KAC

Trevor Wakely and Jan Maslen have been elected by Kinetica customer libraries to represent them on the Kinetica Advisory Committee (KAC). They were the successful candidates from a field of eight in the election just completed. Both Trevor and Jan will serve three-year terms on the Committee.

Trevor Wakely has been Technical Services Librarian in the National Meteorological Library at the Bureau of Meteorology since 1985. Formerly, Trevor worked in the Department of Defence Aeronautical Research Laboratories. He is also a member of ALIA General Council.

Jan Maslen is Associate Librarian (Information Resources) at La Trobe University. Jan has been chair of the ABN Standards Committee and a member of the ABN Network Committee. She was elected to the inaugural Kinetica Advisory Committee in 1998, and has now been re-elected for a second term.

Two other appointments have recently been made to the Kinetica Advisory Committee. One is a National Library representative to fill the vacancy resulting from Jan Fullerton’s appointment as Director-General and the other is to represent the government library sector.

Dale Chatwin is the appointee who will represent the interests of the government library sector. This position has been introduced in recognition of the special situation of both federal and State government libraries in relation to Kinetica. Dale will serve a two-year term on the Kinetica Advisory Committee. Dale is Director, ABS Library Network, Australian Bureau of Statistics.

Pam Gatenby will be one of the two National Library representatives on the Kinetica Advisory Committee, joining David Toll, who has been a member of the Committee since its inception in 1998. Pam is Assistant Director-General, Collections Management.
