Library farewells Charu Sood
Charu
Sood, until recently the National Librarys Director of Interlending
Services, has moved to the Australian Taxation Office as Director,
Information Services, ATO Corporate. Since joining the Library in 1995
after a successful career in public libraries, Charu has worked hard to
improve the service from the Document Supply Service by reengineering
workflows and processes. Her efforts have paid off, with a recent user
satisfaction survey showing a 98 per cent satisfaction rate with the
service.
Her commitment to improving document delivery services carried through to her work on the National Resource Sharing Working Group, where she showed particular interest in service standards. Charu contributed to international document delivery matters, including working on the Research Libraries Group SHARES International ILL Task Force.
Charu led the introduction of several new services, including SUPPLY 1, the National Library of Australias premier service for obtaining copies of reports, conference papers and journal articles. SUPPLY 1 draws on the worldwide resources of libraries and commercial document suppliers to locate and obtain documents for clients. It was introduced to help libraries gain access to documents not held in Australia.
We wish Charu all the best in her new position.
