Indonesian Ambassador enjoys Library visit

Indonesian Ambassador

The Indonesian Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Arizal Effendi described his visit to the National Library on 7 September as a great pleasure. Accompanied by Mr Wahdi Yudhi of the Embassy’s Cultural Section, the Ambassador had discussions with the Director-General, Jan Fullerton and other staff, before touring the building. Mr Effendi was particularly interested in a display of Indonesian publications, which included a microfiche copy of the book Demikianlah Australia (Such is Australia) by his father Arif Effendi, the noted journalist who came to this country on a Colombo Plan scholarship in the early 1950s. The Ambassador has a strong interest in books and libraries as does Mr Yudhi, who uses the National Library regularly.
