Australian Ambassador to Laos visits Library

Australian Ambassador to Laos

Shortly before setting off for the Lao capital Vientiane as the new Australian Ambassador, Mr Jonathan Thwaites visited the National Library as part of the preparation for his posting. On 15 November 2000 he and his wife Eve, who is a librarian at the National Library, met with the Director-General Jan Fullerton and other staff and viewed the Lao collection. For the past decade the Library has been obtaining publications through its Lao Acquisition Program established with the Australian Embassy in Vientiane. The Library’s Regional Cooperation Program has also been providing assistance to the National Library of Laos.
