Library farewells Andrew Wells

Andrew Wells

Andrew Wells, Resource Sharing

Andrew Wells left the National Library on 12 January after working here for four-and-a-half years. Andrew was appointed to the National Library in mid-1996 as Director of Technical Services. From there he moved to the Networked Services Project in January 1997. This project moved rapidly, producing a draft information paper six weeks after its commencement, a Request for Tender in March 1997 and signing the contract for Kinetica implementation and support in January 1998. Andrew led the implementation of Kinetica to a successful conclusion in 1999, contributing enthusiasm, expertise and endurance to the process. During the implementation period, Andrew also took on responsibility for the National Library’s Interlending Services. During 2000, Andrew managed the consolidation of Kinetica services, overseeing the implementation of system enhancements and new software releases.

Andrew’s experience in State, university and public libraries and his participation in a range of standards bodies has been very valuable to the National Library and to Kinetica. We especially appreciate his knowledge and ability, his commitment to customer service and his good relations with his colleagues. Andrew made an important contribution to the social fabric of the Library, arranging last year’s Christmas party, and playing the piano on numerous occasions.

It is with immense gratitude that we wish Andrew well for his move to Sydney and we look forward to working with him again when he finds his next venture.
