Kinetica Advisory Committee Election

The Kinetica Advisory Committee (KAC) is a major source of advice to the National Library of Australia on matters concerning Kinetica developments and services. The KAC has three elected members, whose terms each last for three years. When the KAC was set up, it was decided that the terms of two of the original elected members would be for 18 months, and the third for three years. Philip Keane was designated to serve for three years, with his term expiring at the end of June 2001.

Nominations for the vacant position were called in May, and five nominations were received from the staff of Kinetica customer libraries. All Kinetica customer libraries were eligible to vote and 166 votes were received by close of voting at the end of June. One vote was informal. The results were as follows:

  ROUND 1 ROUND 2 ROUND 3 ROUND 4
Kym Holden 49 51 54 60

Patricia Scott, the newly elected member of the KAC, is Bibliographic Services Librarian at the University of Adelaide. Patricia brings a broad perspective to the KAC. She has extensive experience in a large academic library including the last eight years as Bibliographic Services Librarian, and previous positions as a Subject Librarian, and in a Medical Branch Library plus some Hospital Library experience. Patricia has contributed to the NBD since 1982, and has been a member of a number of advisory groups working on specific Kinetica issues and an active member of the South Australian User Group. In addition to this involvement with Kinetica developments, Patricia actively represents Adelaide University in the advisory process for the National Chinese, Japanese and Korean Service.
