New Burmese Serials List

The National Library of Australia has the largest Burmese language collection in Australia. The collection is housed in the Asian Collections Branch of the Library and is available to readers through the Asian Collections Reading Room. Individual items are also available through interlibrary loan.

The Library’s Burmese language collection is a growing one. The Library receives regular shipments of material currently published in Myanmar from the Universities Central Library in Yangon, and also acquires western language materials relating to Myanmar. The collection complements the Library’s holdings of historical materials on Mayanmar prior to Independence in 1948, and a number of other collections relating to Myanmar, notably that of Professor Gordon Hannington Luce.

The Library has just produced a list of its Burmese serials. In Burmese, the list is the first of a projected series to make the contents of the collection better known to readers and speakers of Burmese.
